MANU TUILAGI QUOTES 23/5/2023

VISIT OF SIR ALEX FERGUSON

“It was amazing seeing him again. We saw him in 2019 in England camp before the World Cup. He is a legend of the world. He gave us some wisdom going into the weekend. The main bit of wisdom was to win. He has been top of his game, he knows what he is doing. Going into these big games he talked about getting yourself right physically and mentally.

“For us we learn from them. They have been there in the big games. You have got to get yourself physically right. For Sir Alex and Jamie Peacock to come in talk about getting your emotions right is massive for us. The thing I have picked up from all the guest speakers we have had in is mentality. They all share a similar mentality of being willing to pay a price whether it is physically or mentally to get to where you want to go. The price of sacrifice, they all seem to have that and that is why they are successful. For us to take the learnings from them is huge.

HIS ROLE THIS WEEK AS AN EXPERIENCED PLAYER

“The main thing for us that we have been saying over the last three or four weeks is to get ourselves right in terms of our gameplan physically and most importantly the mental side of the game. It’s a massive occasion and we have got to manage that mentally and emotionally.”

“It is a special game. We have waited a long time for this. You don’t want to get too overwhelmed by the occasion but also you don’t want to sleepwalk into it and miss the occasion. It’s about finding the balance and that is tough.

“I am feeling more excited now than ever. Playing the game day in day out. This is huge. All the work the boys have put in to put ourselves into this position. How is the time to embrace it and enjoy the occasion. We are enjoying this week. Nothing changes. We are working hard.”
